A TRAFFIC STOP IN SOUTH LAWRENCE COUNTY OVER THE WEEKEND RESULTED IN TWO DRUGS ARRESTS AND THE RECOVERY OF A STOLEN WEAPON.  ACCORDING TO REPORTS, A DEPUTY WITH THE LAWRENCE COUNTY SHERIFFS DEPARTMENT CONDUCTED A TRAFFIC STOP ON SATURDAY AROUND 8 PM.  AS THE DEPUTY APPROACHED THE VEHICLE HE MADE CONTACT WITH THE DRIVER, 23 YEAR OLD JASMINE MURPHY OF IRON CITY AND A PASSENGER, AARON FLATT, 24, OF LAWRENCEBURG.  BOTH APPEARED NERVOUS AND WERE ASKED TO EXIT THE VEHICLE.  TWO SMALL CHILDREN WERE ALSO PRESENT.  A K9 UNIT CONDUCTED A FREE AIR SNIFF IN WHICH HE HAD A POSITIVE ALERT.  A SEARCH OF THE VEHICLE YIELDED SEVERAL BAGGIES OF MARIJUANA WITH A TOTAL WEIGHT OF 70 GRAMS, TWO SETS OF DIGITAL SCALE, A METH PIPE, A PILL BOTTLE CONTAINING 13 SUSPECTED OXYCODONE PILLS AND A HAND GUN WHICH WAS LATER IDENTIFIED AS STOLEN OUT OF FLORENCE.  MURPHY WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY AND CHARGED WITH THEFT OF PROPERTY AS WELL AS CHILD ABUSE NEGLECT.  FLATT, A CONVICTED FELON,  WAS ARRESTED AND FACES CHARGES OF POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA FOR RESALE, POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF A FIREARM DURING A DANGEROUS FELONY, UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF A FIREARM, POSSESSION OF SCHEDULE II FOR RESALE AND CHILD ABUSE NEGLECT.
