THE GILES COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT IS INVESTIGATING A RECENT THEFT CASE AT A SOUTH GILES BUSINESS.  ACCORDING TO INVESTIGATORS, THIEVES GAINED ACCESS TO THE ADULT BOOKSTORE LOCATED JUST OFF INTERSTATE 65 AT EXIT 6 BY PRYING OPEN THE FRONT DOOR WITH A YELLOW CROWBAR.  THE SUSPECTS ALSO CUT THE PHONE LINES TO THE BUSINESS IN AN ATTEMPT TO DISABLE THE SECURITY MEASURES HOWEVER THE VIDEO SYSTEM REMAINED ACTIVE.  ONCE INSIDE, THE THIEVES USED THE BUSINESS TRASH CAN TO STEAL OVER 1,000 DOLLARS IN ADULT PRODUCTS.  INVESTIGATORS INDICATE THOSE RESPONSIBLE ARE WELL KNOWN BY SOUTHERN TENNESSEE AND NORTH ALABAMA AUTHORITIES WHO HAVE DUBBED THE PAIR AS THE WALKIE TALKIE BANDITS. AUTHORITIES IN OTHER STATES HAVE REPORTED SIMILAR CRIMES FROM THIEVES WHO COMMIT BURGLARIES WITH SIMILAR TOOLS.  THIS HAS LEAD INVESTIGATORS TO BELIEVE THE BANDITS ARE MOBILE AND TRAVEL ACROSS THE SOUTHEAST.  THE THIEVES ARE CONSIDERED ARMED AND DANGEROUS.  ANYONE WITH INFORMATION IN THE CASE IS ASKED TO CONTACT THE GILES COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT.
