THE LAWRENCE COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION MET IN REGULAR SESSION MONDAY. ALL CONSENT ITEMS WERE VOTED ON AS A WHOLE AND APPROVED BEFORE LEADERS MOVED ON TO THE DIRECTORS REPORT FROM DIRECTOR ADKINS WHO PROVIDED AN UPDATE ON BASKETBALL GOAL INSPECTIONS, THE TRANSITION TO SPECIAL EVENTS NOW BEING HELD IN THE SCHOOLS AND TWO CEREMONIES COMING UP THE EXCELLENCE IN EDUCATION CEREMONY ON APRIL 29TH AND THE ATHLETICS RECOGNITION OF STATE CHAMPIONS ON MAY 24TH. AN UPDATE WAS THEN PROVIDED REGARDING THE LCSS BUILDING PROJECTS FOR EO COFFMAN WHERE WORK IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN IN JUNE OR JULY AND SUMMERTOWN HIGH SCHOOLS WORK IN JULY OR AUGUST. ADKINS THEN PROVIDED AN UPDATE REGARDING LCEA IN WHICH THE BOARD MANAGEMENT TEAM RECENTLY MET WITH THE TEACHERS TEAMS TO CLEAN UP SOME LANGUAGE IN THE MOU AND WILL MEET AGAIN TO DISCUSS SOME OTHER ISSUES SUCH AS SALARIES, INSURANCE AND RETURNING TO WORK CONDITIONS PRIOR TO THE COVID PANDEMIC. ALL ITEMS FOR CONSIDERATION PASSED WITH THE EXCEPTION OF RESURFACING THE TENNIS COURTS BEHIND THE COLUMBIA STATE COLLEGE BUILDING WHICH WAS TABLED. LEADERS DID APPROVE FOR THE SCHOOL SYSTEM TO PROVIDE A THANK YOU FINANCIALLY TO THE EMPLOYEES FOR GOING ABOVE AND BEYOND THIS PAST YEAR AND APPROVED TO PROCEED WITH BIDDING THE CENTRAL OFFICE ROOFING PROJECT. THE REQUEST FOR A DISTRICT BOOKKEEPER AND TWO SPECIAL EDUCATION ASSISTANTS ALSO PASSED. THE BOARD WILL MEET AGAIN FOR A WORK SESSION ON MONDAY AT 4:15 FOR A BUDGET PRESENTATION.
