He enjoyed all sports, but loved basketball. He was a girls youth center softball coach for many years. He loved his gardens and feeding the hummingbirds.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Omer and Cleo Byrd Hughes; sister, Shirley Staggs; brother, Freddie Hughes; sister-in-law, Ernestine Hughes; brother-in-law, Allan Brazier; nephews, Houston Hughes and Nathan Staggs.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Anita Hughes of Westpoint, TN; daughters, April Hughes (Lee Macon) of Lawrenceburg, TN and Carrie Hughes of Westpoint, TN; sisters, Portia Brazier of Lawrenceburg, TN and Debra Mullins (Randy) of Westpoint, TN; several nieces and nephews, Chris Brazier, Tabitha Brazier, Tamara McLaughlin (Brian), Luke Brazier, Ron Staggs II, Brian Mullins and Brandi Haggard (Dustin).
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Condolences may be sent by way of our website at www.nealfuneralhome.net.
