Florence Man Arrested for Reckless Endangerment After Shooting In Downtown Florence

At approximately 12:40am Sunday, June 29, 2025, Florence Police officers responded to reports of a shooting in the area of Court Street in downtown Florence. Upon arrival, officers located a male victim, identified as 21-year-old Noah Briseno, who had sustained a gunshot wound to the ankle.
Thanks to witness cooperation, responding officers were able to quickly identify the suspect as 24-year-old Roderick Watkins. Witnesses also provided a description of the vehicle involved, a gray Dodge Challenger, which was quickly located by FPD officers in the area.
Officers successfully called Watkins out of the vehicle without further incident. A handgun was recovered from inside the vehicle. Watkins was taken into custody and taken to the Lauderdale County Detention Center.
Roderick Watkins is charged with reckless endangerment and has since bonded out.
