Weekend Accident In Lawrence County

A child is dead and a 16-year-old football player and a 20-year-old were flown to a Nashville hospital in “extremely critical condition” following a crash in Lawrence County over the weekend, according to authorities.

A vehicle with the victims was driving when it failed to negotiate a curve, crossed the double yellow line and crashed into another vehicle head-on near the intersection of Highway 43 South and Purcell Lane.

Authorities confirmed that the child died at the scene. The THP report stated that two other victims sustained injuries in the crash, a 58-year-old man and a 55-year-old woman.

No information was released on the other victims involved in the crash.
