Local Daycare Worker Arrested & Charged

A local Pulaski daycare worker faces nearly 200 counts of various charges, including child abuse, following an investigation.

March 5th, officers with Pulaski Police Department were sent to Kids City USA to investigate allegations of child abuse. Charges were filed against Erica Monique Coleman, 52, for simple assault.

Authorities said an extensive investigation revealed that multiple victims were related to incidents involving Coleman. As a result, officials called for a special session of the Giles County Grand Jury.

Hitting, slapping and even throwing a child across a room are just some of the incidents Coleman is accused of.

According to authorities findings presented to the Grand Jury resulted in Coleman facing the following charges, 94 counts of assault (threat of bodily injury), 97 counts of child abuse/neglect/endangerment (8 years or less), one count of aggravated assault, two counts of attempted aggravated assault, and three counts of attempted child abuse/neglect/endangerment (8 years or less).

Authorities said the investigation involves at least 14 children from a class of three and four year olds.

Coleman was arrested and taken to the Giles County Jail Thursday, April 24th, 2025. The incidents remain under investigation and no additional information was released.
