Country music star Jelly Roll is one step closer to a full pardon from the state of Tennessee.
Jelly Roll, also known legally as Jason DeFord, is close to having a full pardon from his criminal past thanks to the backing of Davidson County Sheriff Daron Hall.
About a year ago, Sheriff Hall asked Tennessee Governor Bill Lee to fully pardon Jelly Roll.
Tuesday, that request was unanimously recommended by the Tennessee Board of Parole. The decision to pardon Jelly Roll is now in Lee’s hands.
The Country Music Star has been open about his criminal past during his rise to stardom. His previous charges stem from incidents in 2003 and 2008, according to Davidson County court records.
Since his newfound fame, Jelly Roll has visited countless prisons and jails in an effort to encourage inmates to become better people while incarcerated.
