This past week has seen a couple of Mock Disaster exercises at Giles County High School and Richland High School.
The Mock Disaster exercises were scheduled to educate, inform and hopefully save lives should an actual event take place.
The students gathered first hand knowledge to the dangers of distracted driving, as well as driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, especially around Prom time.
Those conducting the Mock Disaster exercises were the Giles County’s Office of Emergency Management, EMS, Giles County Fire and Rescue, Sheriff’s Department, the Medical Examiner, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Air-Evac and the volunteer students who participated in the exercise.
Following the exercise, students gathered in their respective high school auditoriums for discussion and debriefing with local emergency personnel.
