Lawrenceburg City Police Alert the Public About Scammers

The public is being alerted by the Lawrenceburg Police Department to a scam that is currently happening in the community. The phone number used by the scammers is a fake one that reads as the Lawrence County Sheriff Department (931) 762-3626. The scammers then mail them a fake arrest warrant or gag order and claim that there is a warrant out for missing jury duty. The scammers want you to use gift cards or bitcoin to make payments. Do not send money! You will not be asked to pay with Bitcoin or gift cards by law enforcement. Also, law enforcement will never ask you to pay of the phone.
