A state grant that will assist in funding the purchase of 16 four-yard hoppers and a new sorting line at the Lawrenceburg transfer station was formally delivered to Assistant Director Zach Fralix and Lawrence County Solid Waste Director Gary Wayne Hyde. Mixed recyclables are sorted in a sorting line, which is a conveyor belt system. When the hoppers are full, the sorted recyclables are rolled away. In order to improve the sorting procedure and replace damaged hoppers utilized in numerous areas of the transfer station’s operations, sixteen were required. The total for this addition is $122,218.00 and the grant totaled to $109,997.00. Lawrence County’s required match is the remaining $12,121.00.
