Robotics programs across the region are helping prepare students for future careers, and now the Tennessee Valley Authority and Bicentennial Volunteers are offering awards to enhance existing programs or assist schools and qualifying non-profits who are beginning new ones.

Similar to the TVA STEM Awards program, teachers and robotics team sponsors in public or private schools, grades K-12, can now apply for an award up to $5,000.

Nonprofit organizations serving youth ages 5-18 may also apply.

Applicants must be in the TVA service area and receive electricity from a local power company served by TVA. A total of $400,000 will be awarded this year to successful applicants.

The funds can be used to purchase robotics kits, tools and materials, and to pay entry fees for competitions. The award can also be used to begin a robotics program.

The deadline to apply at tva.com/robotics is May 15th. Successful applicants will be notified this summer.
