In a combined effort, National and Alabama agencies will invest more than $22 million will be going towards Ardmore’s sewer system, including replacing the town’s wastewater treatment plant.
The Alabama Department of Environmental Management, the Environmental Protection Agency, and state lawmakers, say the town is well on its way to correcting the problem.
Authorities say the system is on the brink of failure and is becoming a health hazard for its residents.
With this grant, and the partnerships and the collaboration, the beleaguered water system is going to get fixed now.
The $22 million grant breaks down like this, $20 million comes from the Alabama Department of Environmental Management, with the remaining $2 million coming from other agencies.
Authorities say the project will take two years to complete.
