Lewis County Government Faces Annual Audit Report

In the annual audit report of the Lewis County Government for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024, eight of the eleven identified audit findings are attributed to the Lewis County School District. Findings from the audit reveal weaknesses, deficiencies, or noncompliance issues in a government’s financial operations. The school district’s audit findings from fiscal year 2023 were all repeated in the new fiscal year 2024 report, with four additional findings included as well. The audit findings of the school district reveal several deficiencies in budgeting, purchasing, and accounting processes. There are additional findings concerning the district’s failure to reconcile its accounts and records every month. Three additional findings in the county’s annual audit report pertain to the Offices of the County Mayor and County Clerk. The Comptroller’s Office wishes to commend the Office of County Mayor, Office of Road Superintendent, and Office of Trustee for either revising their audit findings or making significant progress in enhancing their financial operations since the last audit.
