Giles County Teacher Arrested…

According to a release, a Giles County High School teacher was arrested Friday by the Giles County Sheriff’s Department and was charged with solicitation of a minor,

The teacher was identified as Steven Hughes, an agriculture teacher at Giles County High School.

No additional information about the arrest or charges has been released.

Hughes was released from the Giles County Jail Saturday on a $5,000 bond.

Giles County Director of Schools Vickie Beard released the following statement…

“We were made aware of a situation Friday, and an investigation was immediately begun with the assistance of the Giles County Sheriff’s Department. Since this is an ongoing investigation, no further comment can be made at this time”.

The next court appearance for Hughes is scheduled for March 11th, 2025.
