The Florence-Lauderdale County Animal Service and the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office rescued 82 dogs from a home Tuesday.

The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office said a week before rescuing the dogs, it warned the owner that the living conditions had to improve.

Authorities said at least four to five dogs were crammed into cages and the cages were stacked on top of one another in a shed like building.

The dogs were taken from the shed, and immediately, their demeanors changed, almost like they knew they were free.

All 82 dogs are alive…some have medical issues from their living conditions.

Officials said this is one of the worst cases they have seen in a while.

The dogs are being held at the Florence-Lauderdale animal service facility and waiting to be cleaned and examined. No arrests have been made at this time.

As far as fostering and adoption of these dogs, there is a long process these dogs will have to go through before they are ready to be adopted. Anyone interested should stay up to date by following their Facebook page.
