Long-time Tennessee Titans play-by-play voice Mike Keith is leaving that role to become the play-by-play voice of the University of Tennessee Volunteers.

Keith joined the organization in 1999. In that span, he built a loyal following on radio and in many ways as not only the voice of the franchise but the face of it as well. In addition to his game-day duties, Keith emceed many of the organization’s functions both involving football matters and community events. He also made the rounds as a speaker at many civic and charitable events over the years as well on the Titans’ behalf.

Keith is perhaps most well-known for his legendary call of the “Music City Miracle,” the play that happened 25 years ago in which Lorenzo Neal caught a pooch kick, pitched it to Frank Wycheck, who lateraled across the field to Kevin Dyson, who took it 75 yards for a game-winning touchdown to beat the Buffalo Bills in the 1999 playoffs on their way to Super Bowl XXXIV.

Returning to Knoxville with the Vols, where he will replace the retiring Bob Kesling, is a homecoming for Keith, who graduated from UT and worked on the Vol Network, hosting the football scoreboard show, as well as broadcasting other sports there, before he became the voice of the Titans.

Keith will be the Voice of the Vols on both football and basketball broadcasts.
