The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency is sponsoring a youth squirrel hunt on Saturday, January 25th, 2025, in memory of long-time volunteer, GW Cobb, who passed away earlier this year. This hunt will begin at 7:30 AM at the Gum Springs Missionary Baptist Church. This is for youth ages 6-16. The youth ages 10-16 must have completed the hunter safety course or possess an apprentice hunting license. To sign up for the hunt, hunters should contact Ethan Brown at 629-224-7025 with the hunters name and age by the deadline of Friday, January 24th, 2025. The hunt will be conducted using squirrel dogs, and hunters will be drawn in small groups. Each group will have a dog handler and a guide to assist the hunters. The hunt will be conducted on private lands and Laurel Hill WMA. Breakfast and lunch will be provided at Gum Springs Missionary Baptist Church at 932 Wesley Chapel Rd Lawrenceburg, TN 38464. The hunt will conclude at 1:00 PM. Anyone that would like to volunteer as a guide or to assist with the youth hunt please contact Ethan Brown at 629-224-7025. This is a fun hunt to introduce young hunters to the sport of squirrel hunting with the use of dogs.
