Girls in the foster care system in Ardmore take care of horses through Kids to Love’s equine therapy program at a local farm.

Kids to Love is a non-profit organization based in North Alabama that helps youth in foster care. While some children visit the farm for equine therapy sessions with their four horses, several stay at Davidson farms until they can find foster homes.

The kids interact with and care for the horses, which helps restore their trust in people and build self-esteem.

Davidson Farms can accommodate 6 resident and several non-resident children for their program. The program accepts girls 18 and under, but several who have aged out of the program live on the property in cottages built by Kids to Love.

Davidson Farms said they hope to expand the program to include more rescue horses and add equine psychotherapy for veterans.
