Hunters have harvested less deer over the opening weekend this season, according to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.

So far this year, hunters have harvested 73,458 deer. In the same period last year, the TWRA said hunters harvested around 90,746 deer….a difference of more than 17,200 deer.

The change in the harvest according to most hunters is the weather, with much warmer conditions this year, as opposed to last year.

As a side note, Chronic Wasting Disease has been found in Hardin County, Wayne County and Lewis County.

Tennessee’s gun, muzzleloader and archery deer hunting season will wrap-up January 5th, 2025.

For more information about the deer hunting season go to the TWRA’s website.
