A man has been arrested after a road rage incident at the Walmart on Highway 231 in Hazel Green. The Madison County Sheriff’s Office says the incident happened Monday. James William Moore is accused of following another driver from Taft, Tennessee. Authorities say he struck the victim’s car and fired a gun at it.
The chase ended at Walmart, where Moore used a baseball bat to hit the victim’s car before leaving the scene. The victim was not injured. Moore was later arrested in Lincoln County, Tennessee, for a different offense.
Between October 18th and October 21st, several reports of road rage incidents were filed in southern Lincoln County. During the investigation, the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office found that Moore had committed these offenses.
Moore was later charged in Lincoln County with two counts of vandalism, two counts of aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and disorderly conduct.
Moore was found to be in possession of contraband also, leading to an additional charge of introduction of contraband in a penal facility.
Moore may face additional charges as the investigation continues.
