Election For Interim Giles County Sheriff To Be Held (11/12/24)

Notice is hereby given to all citizens that an election will be held in accordance with TCA 5-1-104 and TCA 8-8-106 to fill the office of Giles County Sheriff during a special-called meeting of the County Commission Tuesday, November 12^th, 2024, held in the Giles County Courthouse Chancery Courtroom at 9:00am.

The purpose of the election is to select the Giles County Sheriff, with said official so elected to serve in the office vacated by Mr. Kyle Helton.

Qualification requirements for Sheriff may be found via TCA 8-8-102. Qualified citizens desiring to be candidates and whose primary residence is located within the boundaries of Giles County, except those prohibited by the Constitution and Laws of the State of Tennessee, are hereby notified of this election to be determined by a majority vote of the Giles County Commission.

Qualified candidates must be POST-certified per TCA 8-8-102(b)(3)(D).  Anyone desiring to be nominated for the position of Giles County Sheriff may submit a letter to the County Executive’s Office to be received, no later than, Friday, Nov 8th at 12:00pm to give advance notice to the Giles County Commission.

This will in no way prohibit anyone residing Giles County from requesting their name being placed in nomination from the gallery of the Courtroom Tuesday, November 12^th, 2024, at 9:00am for consideration candidates must be nominated by a county commissioner.
