Sheriff Kyle Helton announced he has accepted a position with the TN Department of Homeland Security.  He recommended that Captain Joe Purvis be appointed by the Commission as the interim Sheriff until the August 2026 election.

Several notaries and other appointments, including the Regional Planning Commission were approved.

The School Board lease for a portion of the Vertafore building from Rackley-Family LLC, was approved.

A lengthy discussion on the resolution to commit to the scope of work for Phase 1 of the Courthouse improvements in its original form passed with a slight wording change.  The resolution passed 15-4.

A bridge on Bledsoe Roadd over Pigeon Roost was named for Charles “Red” Brewer.

The last resolution related to commission approval of 171 Capital Expenditures, County Executive Stowe took the podium and Erin Curry presided over the rest of the meeting as Chairman Pro Tem.  Commissioner Stowe read a lengthy statement on the issue then left the courtroom.  The Commission went back and forth and ultimately decided to send the issue back to the Financial Management Committee.
