State Representative Clay Doggett has been named the Rural Health Legislator of the Year.

The award, given by the Rural Health Association of Tennessee, recognizes a state legislator who has demonstrated their advocacy on health care for rural Tennesseans.

Doggett received the award due to his efforts in 2022 to secure $1 million in state funding for grants to  assist with the installation of adult changing tables in area businesses, municipalities and other public  spaces in Tennessee. To date, more than 40 adult-sized changing tables have been installed statewide as a result of  the program.

The funding was secured after Doggett met with one of his constituents, Chrissy Hood, who shared the  benefits adult-sized changing tables provide to individuals with special needs and their caregivers. Due to her efforts to increase awareness about health care and disabilities in Pulaski  and throughout Tennessee, the RHA also named Chrissy Hood as the Rural Advocate of the Year.

State Representative Clay Doggett represents House District 70, including Giles County and parts of Lawrence and Lincoln  Counties.
