This release from the UT/TSU Extension Service…
With temperatures predicted into the mid to low 30’s this week, Giles County most likely will experience a frost.
Frost on Johnson Grass can release prussic acid (a form of cyanide) and can be very harmful to livestock.
UT recommendations concerning pastures are to move livestock from any pastures that have Johnson Grass for at least one week.
Hay can be harvested immediately but should not be fed for two weeks.
Contact the Giles County Extension Office at 931-363-3523 for more information.
