James J. Gobbell

James J. Gobbell, age 100, died October 3rd, 2024. He was a Navy veteran and born in Wayne County. He served his country aboard the U.S.S. Oak Hill in the Pacific Theater in World War II, and worked at the Libbey-Owens-Ford Company.

Survivors include his children, James Eugene and wife Beth Gobbell, Sharon Berryhill, Karen Schuelke, Susan and husband Verlon Robbins, and Julie Martin, 19 grandchildren, and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren, siblings, Dexter and wife Myrtle Gobbell and Ruby Bradley.

A private memorial will be held at a later date.
