County Commission Donates West Gaines School To Non-Profit

During their regular bi-monthly business meeting Tuesday, Lawrence County Commissioners voted unanimously to donate the West Gaines School property to the West Gaines School Community Center, Incorporated.  The non-profit group plans to restore the old Lawrenceburg Colored School, transforming it into a museum and community center.  Now that they have gained ownership of the property, the group may apply for grant funding to assist with the restoration efforts.
