New legislation in Tennessee to safeguard abuse victims may save lives. Crime victims may suffer fatal outcomes as a result of their mistreatment. For this reason, Tennessee’s laws must shield victims and hold perpetrators accountable. Regretfully, Tennessee has ranked first in the nation for years in terms of domestic violence overall and, more especially, fatalities resulting from it. Domestic abuse affects thousands of people in Tennessee and will continue to do so. The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence estimates that around 36.8% of men and 39.6% of women in the state will be victims of domestic abuse at some point in their life. Tennessee is ranked third for domestic violence against males and fifteenth for women in the country.
