Beginning in 2025, the University of Tennessee will raise the cost of football tickets; the majority of the increase will go toward player salaries. A new 10% talent charge will be added to all invoices as part of the increase that was revealed in an email sent to season ticket holders on Tuesday morning. This will “help fund the proposed revenue share” for athletes and assist Tennessee in luring and retaining the finest players. After decades of restriction, the NCAA altered its regulations in 2021 to allow athletes to profit from their popularity through sponsorship and endorsement deals. Tennessee has been making an effort to lead the way in the evolving field of athlete assistance.
