Family Pet Lost in Friday Fire

Local firefighters were dispatched to a two-story residential fire in the New Prospect area, shortly after 8 p.m. Friday, with reports that persons might be trapped inside.  Firefighters arrived within three minutes to find a wind-driven fire, with much of the home involved.  They quickly confirmed that no one was inside.  Due to an inadequate water supply, several local engine and tanker companies responded and established a water shuttle operation to help extinguish the fire.  Despite their best efforts, one family pet was believed to have perished in the blaze.
