Two Qualify for November School Board Race

As a result of the resignation of a board member, one seat on the Lawrence County Board of Education has been added to the November 5 ballot.  Lawrence County Commissioners voted to accept the resignation of school board member Nicky Hartsfield during a special session September 6.  The seat was automatically added to the ballot, requiring a very short qualifying period.  When the qualifying period drew to an end Wednesday, both Shannon Hurst Watson and Will Walker had qualified to seek election to complete the unexpired term.
