Tennessee’s population is growing rapidly, and researchers expect at least eight million people to reside in the state by 2040.
From 2010 to 2020, about 400,000 people moved to Tennessee. In just the past three years, 2020 to 2023, that number has already increased.
Three main factors are changing Tennessee’s population, births, deaths, and net migration, or people moving to Tennessee.
The latest data also projects Tennessee becoming a more diverse state. While all races continue to grow, Hispanics are forecast to grow the most, also doubling by 2040.
