STATE REPRESENTATIVE CLAY DOGGETT RECENTLY RECEIVED THE 2024 LEGISLATIVE AWARD FROM THE TENNESSEE ASSOCIATION OF CHIEFS OF POLICE. ACCORDING TO A PRESS RELEASE, THE AWARD RECOGNIZES A LAWMAKER WHO HAS BEEN A CHAMPION FOR PUBLIC SAFETY AND THE LAW ENFORCEMENT PROFESSION. DURING THE 113TH GENERAL ASSEMBLY, DOGGETT LED SEVERAL PIECES OF LEGISLATION TO PASSAGE THAT INCREASED THE BENEFITS AND PROTECTIONS FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS. THE TACP IS THE LARGEST LAW ENFORCEMENT LEADERSHIP ORGANIZATION IN THE STATE WITH OVER 1,000 MEMBERS. DOGGETT SERVES AS THE CHAIRMAN OF THE HOUSE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SUBCOMMITTEE AND A MEMBER OF THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE COMMITTEE. HE IS ALSO A FORMER CORRECTIONS OFFICER AND DEPUTY SHERIFF FOR THE GILES COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE.
