Another Middle Tennessee Scam

Another scam has arrived in Middle Tennessee.

This time it’s reported that residents of Lawrence County were contacted by cellphone with calls and text messages, from a person posing as department investigator named Sargent Garrett Brown.

Those targeted have been informed that a warrant has been issued for their arrest, or they’re charged with another violation. The victim is instructed to obtain either gift cards or a money order to pay their required bond for the offense.

Local authorities say these texts or calls are not legitimate. Law enforcement will never instruct you to obtain either gift cards or a money order to pay their required bond.
