Lauderdale County Man Sentenced To Life

A Lauderdale County man who pleaded guilty to stabbing his father to death has been sentenced to life in prison.

The sentence was handed down during a hearing last Wednesday. Matthew Goode stopped his trial after three days last month and pleaded guilty. He initially claimed the killing was in self-defense.

Goode admitted to killing his father in a January 2023 incident. His father, Donald Goode, was found dead on the living room floor at a home on County Road 5 from an apparent knife wound to the neck.
