As students return to schools on Monday, the Tennessee District Attorney General’s Conference is reminding motorists that any use of cellphones within school zones is strictly prohibited. Tennessee Codes Annotated prohibits the use of cellphones within any marked school zone. Motorists are reminded that school zones will be monitored by local law enforcement officers who will be checking for violators.

Starting January 1, 2018, it became illegal to drive in an active school zone while talking on a hand-held cell phone in Tennessee. Drivers over age 18 can legally use a hands-free device.

Really now, how are they going to know if your on hands free? I understand this is all about the kids safety but sure seems like a wasted venture since we already have laws that restrict the use of cells phones without hands free state wide anywhere on the road! Guess we got nothing better to do but put out oxy moron garbage!

That’s awesome they should’ve enforced it a long time ago in my opinion maybe people will pay attention instead of thinking I’m in a school district (zone) I’m driving slow I’ll chat on my phone
But NO ABSOLUTELY NOT 👍🏻
