EACH OF TENNESSEE’S 95 COUNTIES EXPERIENCED AN INCREASE IN UNEMPLOYMENT DURING JANUARY ACCORDING TO NEW DATA RELEASED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF LABOR AND WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT. EIGHTY COUNTIES REPORTED RATES LESS THAN 5%, WHILE THE REMAINING 15 COUNTIES HAD RATES OF 5% OR GREATER, BUT LESS THAN 10%.
WILLIAMSON COUNTY HAD THE STATE’S LOWEST UNEMPLOYMENT FOR THE MONTH AT 2.55 WHILE PERRY COUNTY HAD THE HIGHEST EMPLOYEMENT RATE IN THE STATE AT 9.9%. LAWRENCE COUNTY HAD 3.7 PERCENT, LEWIS COUNTY 4.0 PERCENT, GILES COUNTY 3.4 PERCENT, MAURY COUNTY 2.9 PERCENT, MARSHALL COUNTY 3.2 PERCENT AND WAYNE COUNTY HAD 5.1 PERCENT.
