A ROGERSVILLE POLICE OFFICER IS BEING CREDITED WITH SAVING A CHILD FROM BURNING APARTMENT BUILDING EARLY SUNDAY MORNING. REPORTS INDICATE OFFICER TYLER DISON MADE FORCED ENTRY INTO THE BURNING UNIT AT ROGERSVILLE PART APARTMENTS JUST BEFORE 5 SUNDAY MORNING AND RECUSED THE 3-YEAR-OLD CHILD. FIRE CHIEF FRANKIE PHILLIPS ALSO GAINED ENTRY TO THE COMPLEX AND REMOVED A RESIDENT WHO WAS HAVING TROUBLE LEAVING THE BUILDING. FIRE CREWS FROM ROGERSVILLE, ELGIN, CENTER STAR, AND KILLEN WERE ON SCENE WITHIN MINUTES AND BROUGHT THE BLAZE UNDER CONTROL. OFFICER DISON SUSTAINED BURNS TO HIS ARM WHILE THE CHILD WAS LATER AIRLIFTED TO BIRMINGHAM FOR TREATMENT. INVESTIGATION TO THE FIRE IS CONTINUING BY THE ALABAMA STATE FIRE MARSHAL’S OFFICE.
