THE ETHRIDGE FIRE DEPARTMENT TOOK TO SOCIAL MEDIA OVER THE WEEKEND WITH A YEAR END REVIEW IN WHICH THEY SET A RECORD NUMBER OF CALLS. AMONG THE 418 RESPONSES OVER THE PAST YEAR THE FULLY VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED TO 61.25 PERCENT RESCUE MEDICAL CALLS, 17.5 PERCENT FIRES AND 2 PERCENT HAZMATS. IN ADDITION, 10.25 PERCENT WERE FALSE ALARMS, 2.75 PERCENT WERE SERVICE CALLS, 5.25 PERCENT WERE GOOD INTENT AND 1. PERCENT WERE WEATHER RELATED. THE AVERAGE RESPONSE TIME FROM BEING DISPATCHED AND TO ON SCENE WAS 8 MINUTES AND 16 SECONDS. IN 2021 THE MEMBERS SPENT OVER 1500 HOURS AWAY FROM THEIR FAMILIES’ DUE CALLS, TRAINING AND OTHER DEPARTMENT RELATED EVENTS.
