ON THURSDAY DETECTIVES WITH THE MARSHALL COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE ALONG WITH THE CHAPEL HILL POLICE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED TO REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE FROM SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICERS AND SCHOOL OFFICIALS TO TWO TOTALLY SEPARATE THREATS OF SCHOOL VIOLENCE. ONE AT DELK HENSON AND ONE AT FORREST HIGH SCHOOL. IN BOTH INCIDENTS THE SUSPECTS WERE IDENTIFIED WITHIN MINUTES AND TAKEN INTO CUSTODY. BOTH STUDENTS HAD USED A SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORM TO MAKE THREATS INVOLVING A GUN AT SCHOOL AND BOTH STUDENTS WERE CHARGED WITH THEIR SUSPECTED CRIMES AND LATER RELEASED TO A PARENT. OFFICIALS ADVISE THERE WAS NEVER A GUN AT EITHER SCHOOL AND NO GUNS WERE LOCATED DURING A SEARCH OF THE STUDENTS OR THEIR PROPERTY.
