CITY OFFICIALS IN FLORENCE HAVE ANNOUNCED THAT EACH FULL TIME EMPLOYEE WILL RECEIVE A $4,000 DOLLAR BONUS FOR THEIR PERFORMANCE AS ESSENTIAL WORKERS DURING THE COVID 19 PANDEMIC. A LITTLE OVER 3 MILLION DOLLARS HAS BEEN SET ASIDE AFTER CITY COUNCIL APPROVED THE ALOTTMENT WHICH IS PART OF THE APPROXIMATE 8.5 MILLION DOLLARS IN FEDERAL FUNDS SENT TO THE CITY THROUGH THE CORONAVIRUS LOCAL FISCAL RECOVERY FUND. EACH FULL TIME EMPLOYEE WILL RECEIVE 4000 AND EACH PART TIME EMPLOYEE WILL RECEIVE 2000. FLORENCE CITY MAYOR ANDY BETTERTON ADVISED HE IS DELIGHTED TO TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO OFFER A TOKEN OF APPRECIATION TO EMPLOYEES FOR THEIR COMMITMENT AND DUTY TO THE CITY OF FLORENCE AND IN ADDITION TO THE MANY HARDSHIPS OUR COMMUNITY ENDURED AS A RESULT OF THE RECENT HEALTH CRISIS, FLORENCE CITY EMPLOYEES ALSO NAVIGATED INTENSE CHALLENGES DURING THE HEIGHT OF THE PANDEMIC AND DID SO WITH PROFESSIONALISM AND FLEXIBILITY. CURRENTLY THERE 693 FULL-TIME AND 132 PART-TIME WORKERS IN THE CITY. OFFICIALS ADVISED THE REMAINING FUNDS WILL BE USED TOWARD SEWER EXPANSION AND OTHER QUALIFYING PROJECTS.
