Building Strength Together

Tragedy has hit our community hard in the last year or so, lots of illness and loss of life. We are grief stricken, but in our grief, we have found strength together. We have not allowed our sorrow to weaken our sense of togetherness. In fact, quite the opposite, we have been brought together even stronger through it.

I have seen people who many times don’t agree on politics or religion working together in love to help a neighbor. I have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from neighboring communities sending teams of people to help in various ways and grieve alongside us. I have seen children bond together and be there for their friends when they could have chosen to do something more fun. I have seen people put their differences aside and work side by side, taking meals to grieving or sick friends, helping an injured neighbor with yard work, and offering consoling shoulders for people they love.

We live in a truly special community of people that is a light for other communities to follow. A week doesn’t go by that I don’t have leaders from surrounding counties ask me what Lawrenceburg and Lawrence County are doing to create such success, and it’s not anything we’re doing; it’s our people. We’re blessed with amazing citizens who care for one another and have servants’ hearts. Communities grow and thrive when love is at the foundation.

As the mayor of Lawrenceburg, I am beyond proud to call you my neighbors and to serve this community. We live in the greatest city and county in the state of Tennessee, and it’s all because of you—our citizens. The City Council and I extend our deepest gratitude to all of you, and we pray that God will continue to wrap this community in his comforting arms and offer peace.
