COLUMBIA CITY COUNCIL WILL MEET THIS WEEK TO VOTE ON VARIOUS ITEMS INCLUDING TO AMEND THE CITY'S ORDINANCE REGARDING THE SALES AND USE OF FIREWORKS.  THE ORDINANCE COMES AFTER SEVERAL COMPLAINTS WERE REPORTED.  ACCORDING TO THE DAILY HERALD, THE PROPOSED ORDINANCE WILL BAN THE SALE AND USE OF FIREWORKS OVER THE NEW YEAR'S HOLIDAY AND RESTRICT JULY FOURTH USE TO THREE DAYS.  THE TEN DAY PERIOD ALLOWED FOR VENDORS TO SELL FIREWORKS WOULD REMAIN THE SAME WITH THE EXCEPTION ONLY FOR THE JULY HOLIDAY.  IF APPROVED, THE NEW FIREWORKS ORDINANCE COULD RECEIVE FINAL CONSIDERATION FOR ADOPTION IN NOVEMBER.  COLUMBIA CITY COUNCIL MEETS THURSDAY AT 6:30 AT CITY HALL.
