Monday, January 15th is a day to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his achievements.
On the local front a celebration will be hosted by the Giles County Branch of the NAACP. The day of festivities include a Pancake Breakfast from 8 until 10 a.m. at the Campbells Chapel Church, A Unity march will begin at 11 a.m. from the Giles County courthouse gazebo and will culminate at Bridgeforth Middle School.
At 11:30 a Youth Program will begin at Bridgeforth and at 6 p.m. there will be an evening program at the Greater Faith Christian Church.
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is celebrated by government offices through out the country. Locally, all Giles County Post offices, the Giles County School system, Area banks, the Senior Citizen Center, the County Government offices, the City of Pulaski government offices and the scheduled Monday garbage pick up by the Pulaski Street and Sanitation Department will be on Tuesday. Also added to the list of closed offices is the Pulaski Electric System.
