Kenneth Bass recently filed his qualification papers to run for sheriff in the August 2nd election. Kyle Helton, the incumbent has already filed his papers to run again for sheriff.

Other candidates who have qualified include Melissa Green for county executive, and Kay Gibbons for Register of Deeds. Dwayne T. Jones filed his papers to run for county commissioner, Leigh Brymer filed her qualification papers to also run for county commissioner, both from district 4.

Other candidates up for election this year include school board district seats from 1, 3, 5, and 7. The mayor and 2 aldermen from Minor Hill. Lynnville has 3 aldermen seats open, and Elkton has their Mayor and 2 aldermen up for election.

The deadline for county offices to qualify in this year’s August 2nd election is February 15th at noon.

The deadline for all other city office elections for candidates to turn in their papers is April 5th at noon.
